What is anxiety?
Anxiety is something that more and more people are becoming aware of, or are being diagnosed with. Anxiety, however is not an illness, it is a natural state and feeling, like many of our other emotions.
Anxiety can be beneficial in helping you to plan a journey, to make sure that you arrive at an important event on time, or it can help you to practice and rehearse for a performance or presentation, exam or job interview.
It is only when anxiety becomes overwhelming or debilitating that it becomes an issue and it can have a physical and mental impact. This can happen for a number of reasons and it is getting to the bottom of those reasons that helps someone to move forward and live a happier life.
Trauma can be a big factor for those who develop out of control anxiety, as can grief and loss. Sometimes we feel as though we cannot change the things that may affect us...but we can learn to react in a different way, which will change the outcome for us.
